Think Outside The Box – Adapting Your Online Presence




Whilst we firmly believe it’s always important to tailor your marketing strategy to adapt to a rampant, ever-changing, internet-obsessed world, it’s recently become more challenging than ever to do so. 

Over the past month, COVID-19 has swept across the nation; hugely impacting millions of businesses, both small and large. With many practical actions now being impossible due to the lockdown, it’s the optimal time to pour resources into strengthening online presence. Look below for 7 tips which have helped us thus far.


1) Boost Morale

First and foremost, this is a difficult time for everyone and a morale boost goes a long way amongst your online followers. Take a step back and think about what positive news pieces you can be sharing right now. Showcase what work you have been doing over the past couple of months- relationships you have built or good news stories from within your team. Sharing these on your social media not only boosts morale within your own team but it is a great way of granting people a sense of connection with your business and those in it.


2) Do some Spring cleaning

A lot of the time, we can be so busy working away with customers that we let our own online maintenance slip. Whether or not you have found yourself having extra time on your hands working from home, use this time to take a step back and look at your online appearance. Now is the perfect time to look at making your website more user friendly and create new content to share across your social media platforms.


3) Connect with people

Check in with people! Many are struggling during this lockdown and simply talking about it can go a long way. Using this time to build relationships with both your colleagues and audience is a healthy, kind, and smart thing to do; leaving you with a stronger foundation to build upon in the future. Think of creative ways that you can work in partnership with people to support one another through this time.


4) Get online

If you’re a business that doesn’t usually market yourself online, now is the time to step up and do it. Focus on ways that you connect with your customers online; either through social media channels or a new website. Many companies will have their foot of the pedal when it comes to marketing right now, so now is the optimal time to further establish your online footprint.


5) Do things a little differently

So your business consistently markets yourself online? Brilliant. This is the time to be thinking a little differently. People are going to be spending a lot more time online and they get bored very quickly, so be sure you’re doing plenty of things to freshen up your content! Get your staff to film update videos from their house, share stories and have some fun! Take this video collage of our lockdown dress up, for example!


6) Start new conversations

Lockdown monotony has affected many, and all some people need is to break the mould by talking to each other; escaping from the tedium of our daily tasks and exploring new opportunities. Start positive conversations with businesses and people you may not usually network with. Just because they aren’t a potential lead or existing customer doesn’t mean you can’t build a good working relationship.


7) Think ahead of time

Whilst it may continue for a long time, there will come a point where things begin to turn back to normal. Use this time to think of new business opportunities and strategies for when the time comes. Think about your customer base and how you can look to expand your work together even more in the future. Look at ways that you can make positive changes to the way you do business in the future.
