How to use video to promote your business

Video for your business might not be something you have ever even considered. In many ways, the power of video marketing can be overseen by business owners as it often comes with a sense of overwhelm or an idea that they will cost too much to create. We often hear lines such as “I get most of my business from word of mouth” or “I haven’t got time” or “We made a video 3 years ago and it wasn’t great”. This quick guide will arm you with some top tips on how to use video to promote your business.

Testimonials are magic!

Client testimonials are so valuable to any business. Look at restaurants and how hard people work to get a good review on Tripadvisor. A video of a client talking about your business and their experience of working with you is a great way to encourage others to do the same.

Talk about your business through video like you would do in a pitch

The first thing people do when they’re looking for something is search for it online. I’d say they Google it, but nowadays there are many other platforms they might look on before Google. YouTube or Instagram being prime examples. Having a video on your social platforms or website homepage will not only boost your SEO but it will also build trust in your brand and engage with your current audience as well as a new audience.

Show off a new product or service

You work so hard on your business that you truly deserve to show it off in the best possible way. A video talking about your latest product or service will engage your audience on a different level and encourage conversation.

It doesn’t have to be public

Don’t underestimate the power of video in your email campaigns. A lot of time and effort can be spent putting together the perfect email and a lot of the time, they end up straight in someone’s trash folder. A video brings your campaign to life and if a video makes the reader hang round that little bit longer, it’s well worth it.

Call to action – What do you want your audience to do after they watch your video? Pick up the phone? Share it with their network? Be sure to make this clear in the post or video itself.

Shamelessly ask people to share your video – Sharing is caring and you’d be surprised how willing your connections will be to give you a hand sharing your video with the world. It’s a simple favour that goes a long way for your engagement.

Play your video in person – If you’re delivering a presentation or attending an event, have your video ready on your phone to show potential connections. It breaks up the mundane and encourages bigger conversations.

Strategy is a key player when it comes to video and that’s why working with a creative partner can be the most effective way to use video to your full advantage. Click below to take a look at our business video package.
